-
What is the latest time I can book a talk?registration for each talk closes at night two days before the meeting so that you can plan your participation in the meeting in advance. For example, if your meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., registration will close on Monday night.
-
Where can I find the link to the Zoom meeting?Links are sent by e-mail and visible in your Google Calendar on the day before the meeting.
-
Camera and microphonemust always be turned on. The conversation is intended to imitate a casual live conversation. To make it as comfortable as possible, it is important that your camera and mic are always turned on. It also allows you to verify your talking partner, thus ensuring the safety of both talkers.
-
Verificationif you ever notice something disturbing during a conversation, e.g. you feel that someone's age or language level does not match that of yours, please send us a report. You can also just write to us in the chat. We consider each report as a priority. We then arrange a verification call with the reported person or take part in the scheduled meeting for which the person signed up. We reserve the right to block further use of the platform by people who are reported and do not want to be verified. This is a violation of the main purpose of the platform, which is to ensure the safety of the community learning to speak English.
-
Starting a meetingthe conversation starts with a greeting, you can be the first to say "Hello, how are you?" and talk briefly about how you feel. You can also go straight to the questions and ask your talking partner the first question from the list which you find on the meeting description page.
-
Conversationto make the conversation most valuable it is worth listening carefully to your talker and asking them detailed questions about what they have just said. You can also refer to their situation if something they said is similar to your situation. Also, remember to never answer with one word. Answers should be elaborated. You can ask completely different questions outside the list of questions as well but they must be related to the topic of the conversation.
-
First stepCreate an account and tell us more about your favourite conversation topics - Japanese cuisine, school or deep-tech startups? We always verify your profile to connect you with a perfect language partner with whom you can practice speaking and assign you to the classes that are most suitable.
-
Second stepTake a look at yo's calendar and take part in as many Zoom conversations as you want. There are many different types of classes available, from friendly evening meetings about hobbies and weather for beginners, to advanced exam preparation lessons held during the working week. All of them are 1-on-1 lessons with people learning the same language and having similar interests. You can always use our additional educational material to make classes more effective.
-
Third stepSpeak with real people your age every day and gain confidence faster.
-
The end of online violenceChildren are safe with us. Our Internet Security Guards always start your Zoom meeting and check the identity of all the people in the room. We prevent online harassment. Learn what we do to keep this place the safest on the internet.
-
The end of stressful learningOn yo, you can be shy and don't know what to say. Before every talk, we send you a list of the questions and conversation starters - you should use them during the meeting. Avoid awkward silence and meaningless small talk. Learn what you need.
-
The second registered person did not come for the meetingIn such a situation, please wait 5 minutes for your talking partner and after that time you can either leave the meeting or immediately write a post to the age group asking if anyone would like to participate in the conversation at this time. In your post, write the topic of your conversation and your language level so that interested people can comment. You can send the Google Meet link in a private chat to the person who will respond in the comment.
-
The person registered for the meeting looks much older or younger or has an inappropriate language levelIn such a situation, immediately call us via the chat on the website, where you will describe the situation in a few words. You can write to us in the chat either in Polish or English. We will review your report as soon as possible and arrange a verification call with the reported user or check their next Google call. If you don't feel comfortable, you can leave the conversation immediately and describe the situation to us later so that we can verify your talking partner's account again.
-
The person registered for the meeting does not want or cannot turn on the camera or microphoneIf the camera is broken, you can conduct a conversation without it, but only as an exception, after mutual consent of both conversation partners. If you don't feel comfortable with the other person's camera turned off, you can leave the conversation and describe the situation to us in the chat so that we can verify the other person's actions. If the other person's microphone is broken, they should try turning it on and off again or switching to headphones. If that doesn't work, you can leave the conversation and then write a post in the group inviting someone else to join the conversation.
-
I can't turn on my webcamTry turning it off and on, entering the conversation again or changing your browser to Chrome. If that doesn't work, ask the other person if they're OK to talk without a camera. If so, you can talk without it, if not, leave the conversation.

You can ask additional questions of your own and if you don't want to talk any longer, you can leave the conversation earlier.

I don't remember a word in English and can't finish the sentenceThat's okay. You can ask the other person in Polish if they remember this word or ask them to wait a moment and look it up in an online dictionary. The point is for you to learn as much as possible, not to speak without mistakes and remember everything.
